Dōgen’s Undivided Activity: Views on Birth and Death

Kenkai Brandon Lamson, a senior member of HZC, will focus the class series on four short fascicles, or chapters, that are contained in the anthology Moon in a Dewdrop.

The fascicles are: Birth and Death; The Time-Being, Undivided Activity, and Body and Mind Study of the Way.

The class will focus on one fascicle per class, exploring the individual writings as well as the correspondences among them.

Everyone is welcome to participate in the class, and it is specifically directed toward people who are interested in Dōgen Zenji.

The text for the class is Moon in a Dewdrop. The text is available online. Copies of the fascicles can also be provided in pdf format.

The Zoom link will be sent before the class begins.

Kenkai served a term on the Board of Directors of HZC. He is a poet whose books include Starship Tahiti. He is a visiting assistant professor of creative writing at the University of Houston. He is the leader of the Houston Dharma Collective, as well as a yoga teacher. His dharma name, Kenkai, means Inkstone Ocean.
