Please donate to provide cool air in the Auspicious Cloud Zendo 2025
Dear friends and members,
Houston Zen Center is an oasis of peace. We are nearly 1/3 of the way to our goal of raising $13,000 to restore the cooling equipment in the Western Zendo in the Houston Zen Center and in the Box House at Auspicious Cloud Zen Retreat Center, and repair the fence on our Houston property. Thank you to all of you for all you do.
The teachings of Zen offer a path to wisdom and compassion, for all beings, and we are pledged to continue this way of peace and wisdom for all time. Abbot Gaelyn Godwin and President Hōdō Zack Becker wish you the very best summer of 2025.
Cooling the Zendo:
These are beautiful days. The teachings that are offered and demonstrated at your Zen Center are more important than ever in this complex world. Thank you so much for all you do, known and unknown, to care for Houston Zen Center. Please help us care for this place of peace.
Sincerely,
President Royce Johnson and Abbot Gaelyn Godwin

Maitreya Society
Maitreya, the Buddha of Loving-Kindness
Maitreya is the Buddha of Loving-Kindness, the future Buddha who watches over all beings now and in times to come. By naming the Society for Maitreya, whose name comes from Metta, or Love, the members join in watching over the future wellbeing of Houston Zen Center, also known as Auspicious Cloud Temple, enabling it to welcome seekers for many years to come. Please download and fill in the Letter of Intent and send it to HZC so you will be enrolled in the Maitreya Society list of generous friends.
We gratefully acknowledge those helping to ensure our sustainability for future generations of way-seekers by including Houston Zen Center in their estate plans. For a list of Society members who have made pledges to date, select here.
PLANNED GIVING
Making a planned gift is a wonderful way to leave a legacy for Houston Zen Center. Your planned gift can be tailored to your financial and estate planning goals and will provide lasting support for making the dharma available for generations to come. You can designate it with a specific purpose in mind or leave it unrestricted so Zen Center can apply it toward the areas of greatest need.
