Houston Zen Center offers a number of classes especially
for beginners to meditation. Most classes are accessible
for beginners as well as advanced practitioners but
these are especially helpful for new meditators.

First Wednesday - one hour introduction

On the first Wednesday of each month, an introduction to Zen meditation evening is offered by Zen Center leaders Louise Dreyfus, Gayle Klaybor, Judson Dunn, Laura Salazar-Hopps, Rev. Royce Johnson, or Mary Carol Edwards. The evening begins at 6:30 pm. There is no charge, everyone is welcome. In March-November it takes place on the first Wednesday of the month.

Introduction to Zen Meditation - class series

A series of 5 classes on the basics of meditation, including mindfulness, is offered by the Abbot throughout the year. The 5 class series is $100, scholarships are readily available, no one is turned away because of financial challenges. Occasionally a concise series of 3 classes is offered. The 3 class series is $75, scholarships are readily available.

Sunday Program

The Sunday program includes an introduction to newcomers at 9:20. The "Greeter" meets you at the door and will answer any questions you have throughout the morning.
