NEW TO ZEN MEDITATION
Houston Zen Center offers a number of classes especially
for beginners to meditation. Most classes are accessible
for beginners as well as advanced practitioners but
these are especially helpful for new meditators.
One Hour Introduction - First Wednesday of the Month
An introduction to Zen meditation evening is offered by Zen Center leaders Gayle Klaybor, Rev. Royce Johnson, or Mary Carol Edwards on the first Wednesday of each month. The evening begins at 6:30 pm, in person at the center. There is no charge. Everyone is welcome.
Introduction to Zen Meditation - class series
This popular series offers the basics of Zen meditation. Participants are introduced to the basic meditation posture as well as the basic methods of Zen. The series of five classes includes discussions of mindfulness, ethics, patience, and other fundamental Zen practices. The course is offered by the Abbot Gaelyn Godwin and Zen Priest Royce Johnson throughout the year. The series is $100, scholarships are readily available, no one is turned away because of financial challenges.
Sunday Program
The Sunday program includes an introduction to newcomers at 9:20. The "Greeter" meets you at the door and will answer any questions you have throughout the morning.
