4 Tuesdays, February 25 - March 17, 6:30-8:30 pm. Taught by Ryūshin Dave Smith.
Compiled in the 1st Century CE, the Samdhinirmocana (sawm-dee-neer-mo-chana) Sutra is one of the Buddha’s core teachings on the nature of consciousness. It reads almost like a textbook on awareness. It addresses the nature of ultimate reality, the structure of human consciousness, the characteristics of phenomena, the stages of meditation, and the essential qualities of a buddha. It is a foundational text in the development of Yogacara.
If you are interested in the foundations upon which our present practice of Zen derives, you will enjoy this close study.
Each class begins with a period of meditation followed by teaching and discussion.
