Understanding Our Mind

Anna Gonzalez

Anna Gonzalez

Tuesdays, July 23-August 27, 6:30-8:30 pm. Taught by Anna Gonzalez

In this course, we will explore the meaning of Store consciousness, Manas, Mind Consciousness, Sense Consciousness, the Nature of Reality, and the Path of Practice in the six chapters of Understanding Our Mind: 50 Verses on Buddhist Psychology.

In the Introduction to this book, Tenshin Reb Anderson Roshi writes, “In Understanding Our Mind, the Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh shows us how cultivating a deep understanding of our own mind is essential to realizing peace in our world."

Based on the thirty verses on the nature of consciousness taken from the great fifth century Buddhist Master Vasubandhu, Understanding our Mind is an accessible guide for anyone who is curious about the inner working of the mind.

This class is appropriate for intermediate and advanced practitioners. Intrepid beginners will also find it intriguing.

Each class begins with a period of meditation followed by a presentation and discussion.

Anna is a long-time Zen student at HZC with the dharma name Kyōshin Shindō, Bridge of Truth, Profound Peace.
