Tuesdays, October 1 - November 5, 6:30-8:30 pm. Taught by Hōdō Zack Becker
In this class, we will read Opening the Hand of Thought: Foundations of Zen Buddhist Practice, by Kosho Uchiyama. Appreciated by new and experienced students alike, Uchiyama’s writing provides clear, practical guidance on practicing zazen and studying the self. Over the course of six classes, we will explore sitting, our mind, and how we can bring our practice off the cushion and into the ordinary moments of daily life.
Each class begins with a period of meditation followed by a presentation and discussion.
Hōdō Zack Becker, a long-time practitioner of Zen, is a senior member of HZC where he serves on the Board of Directors. He is a police lieutenant and writer.
