The sesshin has reached capacity for the weekend. There are 2 openings for the full sesshin. If you would like to add your name to the waiting list for the weekend option, please contact Joy.

Deepen meditation practice and gather the mind during this 5-day intensive meditation practice led by Abbot Gaelyn Godwin and Shuso Sengetsu Tricia McFarlin.

If this is your first sesshin with HZC, please meet with Zengetsu Vicki Glenn, or Jika Gayle Klaybor the co-heads of Practice at HZC. They can be reached by email, or in person at the Center.

Sesshin begins Tuesday night at 7:00 pm. The hours Wednesday - Saturday are 5:30 am – 9:00 pm. Sesshin comes to an end on Sunday June 26.  This sesshin will have in person participation as well as video participation through the Cloud Zendo, and guidance will be provided on setting up each participant’s home zendo or practice place.

Meals will be vegetarian, and we will use the formal Zen eating bowls called oryoki. Please bring your own set if you have one, or you may use one of the Center’s sets for a modest charge. Please let Joy know if you would like to arrange a lesson in the practice of oryoki. There is also a very good video from San Francisco Zen Center if you would like a refresher.

Partial participation in the sesshin is possible (1-4 full days) if you cannot join for the entire 5 days. Participation in at least 1 one-day sitting is required before joining this sesshin.

Costs: $200. HZC Member price is $100. Partial participation is $30 per day/$25 for members. Oryoki rental is $6 for one or two days, $15 for the whole sesshin. Scholarships are available. Email Joy for more information.

The sesshin includes the Ceremony of Dharma Inquiry, or Shuso Ceremony, on Sunday June 26 at 2 pm. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend.
Practice Period Closing Ceremony takes place at the end of the sesshin, either before or after the Shuso ceremony.
