The Path
Politics from Center: A Workshop
Taught by Rebecca McIlwain
For centuries, students of Zen have been practicing amid famines, wars, and all forms of political and social unrest. How did they do it? Did they all withdraw to their caves? How does a conscientious, spiritual person navigate the apparent dissonance between spiritual practice and civic engagement?
In this workshop, we will explore how to bring compassion and clarity to our dual roles as citizens and students of Zen. Through guided imagery, experiential exercises, and facilitated discussions, we will use tools that help deepen our practice and heal the divisions that can plague our families, neighborhoods, and country.
