Houston Zen Center will hold a traditional Buddhist Funeral Ceremony for Andrew Chaney, a beloved member of the Board of Directors of Houston Zen Center, and one of our sewing teachers. This ceremony marks the culmination of the traditional ceremonies to protect and guide after Andrew after his passing on July 16, 2024.

In this traditional ceremony, Andrew’s beloved sangha will honor him by making offerings and chanting as a protection for Andrew throughout lifetimes to come. We will place sacred objects on the altar in his memory, and ceremonially burn all his karma.

During the ceremony, the Abbot, senior members, and friends of Andrew will be invited to speak. A reception follows the ceremony.
