Celebrate the birth of Shakyamuni Buddha on April 11 @ 11:30 am after the dharma talk. The ceremony includes birthday cake. Shakyamuni Buddha was born nearly 2644 years ago, in about 623 b.c.e., in Lumbini, in Northern India.
In Zen ceremonies, we circumambulate around the little altar, and take turns pouring a little sweet tea over the figure of the baby Buddha. We will practice physical distancing. We will limit the number of guests to the appropriate number during this time. Please rsvp here.
It is a joyous occasion to celebrate the birth of awakening, and of an awakened being.
Everyone is welcome to the ceremony.
