Sejiki Ceremony - Bringing Peace to the Departed

This yearly ceremony honors everyone who has passed away, especially those who have passed away over the last year. During the ceremony we dedicate the merit to those who are at rest. We also dedicate the merit to those who may be ill at ease and unsettled.

During the course of the ceremony, the names of people the congregation has designated are read aloud and the congregation chants the Gate of Sweet Dew. The ceremony is very lively at the beginning, in the spirit of calling out to distracted spirits to invite them in. Everyone is welcome! Bring a musical instrument, or a noisemaker, or use one of the noisemakers from the Center.

You are welcome to write the names of all departed ones that you would like to be remembered in the ceremony. Cards are available at the Center.
