Rohatsu Sesshin

Deepen meditation practice and gather the mind during this5-day intensive meditation practice led by Abbot Gaelyn Godwin.
 

If this is your first sesshin with HZC, please meet with Kogen Glen Duval or Hokyo Louise Dreyfus, the co-heads of Practice at HZC.

Sesshin begins Tuesday night at 7:00 pm. The hours Wednesday -Saturday are 5:30 am – 9:00 pm. Sesshin comes to an end after the ceremony of Buddha’s Enlightenment at noon on Sunday December 10.  It is recommended that participants stay at the Center but commuting options are available.

Partial participation in the sesshin is possible (1-4 full days) if you cannot join for the entire 5 days. Participation in at least 2 one-day sittings is required before joining this sesshin.

Costs: $150 plus $60 for shared sleeping accommodations. HZC Member price is $90 plus $30 for shared sleeping accommodations. Partial participation is $40 per day/$30 for members. Two partial scholarships are available. Email Parmita for more information: secretary@houstonzen.org.

Formal Oryoki bowls (for the meals) are available for purchase or rental. $6 per day, $15 for 3 or more days, $45 to purchase. Classes in the use of Oryoki will take place in November.
