Houston Zen Center will hold a traditional Buddhist Funeral Ceremony for Louise Dreyfus, a Lay Entrusted Dharma Teacher and co-founder of Houston Zen Center. This ceremony marks the culmination of the traditional ceremonies to protect and guide after Louise after her passing on January 6, 2024.

In this traditional ceremony, Louise’s beloved sangha will honor her by making offerings and chanting as a protection for Louise throughout lifetimes to come. We will place sacred objects on the altar in her memory, and ceremonially burn all her karma.

During the ceremony, the Abbot, senior members, and friends of Louise will be invited to speak. A reception follows the ceremony.
