Celebrate the birth of Shakyamuni Buddha on April 17 @ 11:30 am after the dharma talk. The ceremony includes birthday cake. Shakyamuni Buddha was born nearly 2645 years ago, in about 623 b.c.e., in Lumbini, in Northern India.
In Zen ceremonies, we walk mindfully around the little altar, taking turns pouring a little sweet tea over the figure of the baby Buddha. The ceremony takes place outdoors, but we ask that all participants be fully vaccinated. Please rsvp here.
It is a joyous occasion to celebrate the birth of awakening, and of an awakened being.
There will be cake and tea following the ceremony.
