Guiding Teacher Gaelyn Godwin and Senior Zen practitioner Glen Duval will lead a half-day of sitting and walking meditation on Sunday, May 16, 2010.
Extending our regular meditation is an opportunity to deepen practice and refresh our intention.
The day begins with meditation at 5:30 am, and continues with sitting and walking meditation, a dharma talk, and opportunities to meet with the leaders for individual practice discussion. Breakfast and lunch will be a silent formal meal using oryoki bowls. Please bring your bowls, or, if you would like to rent bowls ($6) or purchase a set ($40), or if you need a refresher course in the practice, please send a request to the Ino, Glen Snyder, info@houstonzen.org.
$60, includes oryoki breakfast and lunch; $25 for members of HZC.
A period of intensified practice, with the sangha, is a way to encourage and deepen everyone's practice. The Practice Period begins with an Opening Ceremony June 11 at 7 pm. Every day of the practice period involves sitting and walking meditation, study and work practice. The schedule, including the dates of the major ceremonies, is available at the Center.
The Practice Period is led by Abiding Teacher Gaelyn Godwin, and Senior Practitioner Cathy Crouch will serve as Shoso, or Head Student.
